Info: The car was registered in 1961 and bought in early 1962, from Browns Garage in Bridgwater, Somerset. I understand the car had been a demonstrator for Browns Garages (Bath), and was about a year old with around 3000 miles when Dad took delivery.
Dad and Mum, were both active members of the Burnham on Sea Motor Club, and the car was used regularly for amateur motor sport. Four point rally harnesses were installed in the front.
On one trip home from Spain, in the summer of 1967, the crankshaft broke in Northern France. Another family of brits also on holiday, kindly offered to tow the car, and take us, to Le Havre for the ferry back to the UK. As no tow rope was available, the Britax Rally
harnesses were used! Britax then offered to provide a free replacement set after Dad offered them the old belts for stress examination after their unplanned use for towing. |
