I've got the original sales receipt and on it it states it's production number is 479 and that it was first registered here in New Zealand 1/7/60.

Info: I've just bought today a 948 Herald Saloon with just under 40,000 miles on the clock. It's been off the road for at least 10 years. It's generally very original.
I must admit I also love the red/white duo-tone. Even though the car does seem exceedingly straight (and pretty much rust-free) there does seem to be something weird going on with the paint. Under the bonnet and on the bulkhead it's very pale yellow. On the sales receipt it does also state it's duo-tone but not which colours. May be it was yellow/white. I'll have to lots more investigating on the car!!
